I removed the SuperTrapp. It clearly had leaked at the joint (see previous reports): the inside of the heat shield that covers the joint was coated with carbon, and the rubber bushing (?) holding the bolt in the rear bracket had been broken by the pipe's movement. I got an RMA and sent the SuperTrapp back to the manufacturer. This evening, after much fussing, I accomplished what I'd thought would be impossible: I got the stock muffler back on without removing the head pipe. For the past few days, I've had laryngitis and can only speak in a whisper; now, I mused as I warmed up the bike, the Savage has laryngitis, too. As I rode, I missed hearing what the engine was doing, and I missed the extra power. In my opinion, the quietness and power limitation of the stock pipe make the bike less safe. I hope that the SuperTrapp people come through with a good pipe very soon.
